House Demolition & Site Clearance
LCB Contracting demolishes houses, sheds and outbuildings across North West Tasmania and clears the site ready for the next build. Work is done under current WHS practice with services disconnected and verified first, materials sorted and carted with our own trucks, and the block handed back level, clean and ready for site preparation.
Demolition is mostly preparation: confirming service disconnections, checking for hazardous materials, planning the drop and the load out. Once that’s locked in, the excavator does the quick part. Concrete, steel and clean fill are separated for recycling where practical, and general waste goes to licensed facilities.
Because we also do earthworks, demolition rolls straight into the new project. Slab removal, stump grinding, pad preparation and driveway works can all happen in the same mobilisation, so you deal with one contractor and hand your builder a clean site.

How much does it cost to demolish a house in Tasmania?
On the North West coast, the cost of demolishing a standard weatherboard or brick home comes down to size, materials, whether asbestos is present and access for machines and trucks. Asbestos removal (by licensed removalists) is the biggest variable. We inspect, then quote a fixed price covering demolition, cartage and tipping.
Do I need a permit to demolish?
Yes. Demolition in Tasmania requires approval through your local council, and services (power, water, gas, phone) must be disconnected before work starts. We’ll walk you through the paperwork and won’t start until disconnections are confirmed.
What about asbestos?
Houses built before 1990 often contain asbestos sheeting. Testing is arranged up front, and any asbestos is removed by a licensed removalist before demolition begins. It’s handled inside the quote and the timeline, not discovered halfway through.
